Corsica’s Best Marinas

Corsica is one of the Mediterranean’s best-kept secrets brimming with glorious landscapes, cultural treasures, and time-honored traditions.

Anyone who appreciates beautiful nature, outdoor fun, and authentic sightseeing should visit Corsica at least once. In fact, this beautiful region offers tremendously varying opportunities: from hiking and canyoning to snorkeling and sunbathing, enjoying a leisurely boat trip, delving into the island’s multifaceted history and sampling local delicacies

The weather in Corsica is particularly pleasant for year-round leisure and exploration due to its sunny Mediterranean climate, defined by warm, dry summers and mild winters.

Aboard your boat, come and be dazzled by the magic of Corsica and its remarkable coves that will guarantee you a rare diversity of atmospheres, between bustling villages and remote hamlets. Wild coastline with golden rocks, peaceful gulfs, fine sandy beaches with turquoise waters, solitary coves: so many idyllic anchorages that you can enjoy during your cruise on the island of beauty.

From Bastia to Bonifacio, here is a list of the maritime destinations that have charmed many yachters and reached the top of exclusive rankings:

·         BASTIABastia’s Vieux Port is ringed by precariously tall, pastel-colored tenements and buzzy brasseries, and overlooked by the twin-towered Église St-Jean Baptiste. This represents the main port for the island, which is why many yachts and boats will come and visit here each year. Pebbly beaches can be found here, but only 1 km away from Bastia tourists will find L’Arinella Beach which has soft sands and ultramarine waters. Marrying a quality terroir, trendy restaurants and beautiful distinguished tables, Bastia and its region abound in flavors, specialties and culinary traditions.

·         PORTO VECCHIO: Thanks to its strategic location to the nearby beaches of Santa Giulia Palombaggia, this port in Corsica is the island’s main tourist destination. It has about 400 berths, 150 of which are reserved for transit. Bars, restaurants and ice-cream stalls have taken up residence and offer a pleasant relaxation in the heart of the Gulf.
Finally, the Porto-Vecchio Marina is the starting point for sea cruises to the Lavezzi Islands and many other activities such as scuba diving, boat trips or jet skiing.

·         BONIFACIO PORT DE PLAISANCE: At the bottom of a narrow inlet rimmed by chalk white cliffs, with a fascinating past yet thoroughly modern and proud of it, Bonifacio has become something of a “must” amongst the boating community. Some of the most stunning superyachts in the world moore next to modern sailboats and the more traditional latten-rigged wooden vessels. The port, dominated by the old town and citadel of Bonifacio, has succeeded in preserving both its social and cultural identity, and has a unique charm and lively atmosphere that’s hard to match. The port of Bonifacio is in the center of the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve, surrounded by coastal and marine environments as well as exceptional landscapes: the Lavezzi, Cerbicale, Bruzzi and Moines archipelagos, the Bonifacio cliffs and the Ventilègne ponds.

·         PORT DE PROPRIANO: Port de Propriano is a commercial, tourist and fishing port located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Valinco, between Ajaccio and Bonifacio. The port is located within an inlet bordered on the north by the Scogliu Longu. Propriano nestled at the bottom of the Gulf of Valinco is a busy tourist and seaside resort with long beaches. Worth mentioning are Plage du Corsaire, Plage du Lido, Plage du Cape Larosu, and further south the picturesque Plage de Portigliolo. A perfect spot for windsurfing, catamarans, and sea kayaks. North of Propriano is the prehistoric archaeological site of Filitosa, one of the largest in Europe. This prehistoric site recognized as a World Heritage Site is famous for its array of carved-face statue-menhirs.

·         PORT DE AJACCIO:  Cradled by the Mediterranean, the Ajaccio Tino Rossi marina and fishing port welcomes you to the heart of the Imperial City for the most beautiful of stops. The old town is charming, with streets opening onto the port. The city center offers a range of cafes, restaurants and luxury stores. Ajaccio is the imperial city and birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, who made our city famous. The improbable destiny of a diminutive Corsican who became the emperor of France has left an indelible mark on Ajaccio.

·         PORT DE CALVI: The marina is in the stunning town of Calvi where shop bars and restaurants are easy to access. The port town of Calvi, in the Balagne region of north-west Corsica, boasts the intrigue of traditional Corsican culture while effortlessly maintaining the comforts of a modern resort. You will find picturesque views of the coast and there are many enjoyable places to spend time both in Calvi itself and the surrounding region.

·         PORT DE SAINT FLORENT: While cruising along the occidental coast with its hilly, wild landscapes, you will pass Mortella’s peak to discover Saint-Florent’s Gulf and, in the background, the village which gave its name to the Gulf. Sheltered from the winds, it offers a safe anchorage to the boaters who come to dwell there. The main interest in Saint-Florent’s harbor is indisputably its situation at the heart of the village, at the bottom of the citadel’s ramparts, so that you can stroll along the colorful, charming quays.

Once you cruise with your boat in the waters of Corsica alongside its striking coastline, you will understand immediately why this island is called “the island of Beauty”. Breathtaking scenery with red cliffs and rugged shores, vibrant atmosphere and old towns enchant sailors worldwide.
